Unlocking the music in every voice
Welcome to Cole Valley Harmony
Music matters
I’m Andrea, a mezzo soprano in the SF Symphony Chorus and a mother of two. I was trained in the midwest choral tradition as a member of the St. Olaf Choir, and hold degrees in Music and Psychology. I have spent my life dedicated to bringing music into people’s lives.
Growing up, I was fortunate to have many great opportunities to learn music in school. These experiences had a lasting impact, and now I'm passionate about providing opportunities to the kids (and adults!) of San Francisco.
I offer singing or string lessons on a 1:1 and small group basis for kids. The focus is on creating a supportive, fun environment where everyone can learn, grow, and thrive.

Learning music is more than learning a new skill. It nurtures emotional well being, helps process emotions, and is an outlet to connect with others. It fosters self-expression and self-control.
A strong musical education provides students with the tools to communicate themselves more deeply, while building patience, confidence, discipline, and community.
Music is good for you
Music is social
Small group instruction strikes a perfect balance between personalized attention and the benefits of making music with others. You or your kids will discover their unique singing voice and how it contributes to the group’s overall sound.
It’s never too late to find your voice
Leading by example is one of the most powerful gifts you can give your children and yourself. When they see you take time for yourself, embrace vulnerability, and develop a new skill, it has a lasting impact. It’s not only rewarding—it’s fun!
Lessons aren’t just for kids! I offer personalized day sessions for adults, where we focus on your goals, celebrate your unique voice, and develop your musicality. In a supportive, one-on-one space, I’ll meet you where you are, and help take your artistry to the next level.
Making music together
In one-on-one lessons, we focus on building healthy vocal technique, confidence, and expressive music-making. Sessions are tailored for younger students and beginners, with light theory and musicianship woven in as helpful.
Private violin lessons introduce children to the foundations of string playing in a supportive environment. Students learn posture, bow hold, and tone production while building confidence step by step. Music reading and theory are integrated as students are ready, keeping lessons creative and accessible.
Coming later in 2025: Small group singing and beginner string ensembles will be added, giving students the chance to make music collaboratively while still receiving personal guidance.
