Unlocking the music in every voice
I’m Andrea, a mezzo soprano in the SF Symphony Chorus and a mother of two. I was trained in the midwest choral tradition as a member of the St. Olaf Choir, and hold degrees in Music and Psychology. I have spent my life dedicated to bringing music into people’s lives.
Growing up, I was fortunate to have many great opportunities to learn music in school. These experiences had a lasting impact, and now I'm passionate about providing opportunities to the kids (and adults!) of San Francisco.
I offer singing or string lessons on a 1:1 and small group basis for both kids and adults. The focus is on creating a supportive, fun environment where everyone can learn, grow, and thrive.
Welcome to Cole Valley Harmony
Music matters
Music is good for you
Learning music is more than learning a new skill. It nurtures emotional well being, helps process emotions, and is an outlet to connect with others. It fosters self-expression and self-control.
A strong musical education provides students with the tools to communicate themselves more deeply, while building patience, confidence, discipline, and community.
Music is social
Small group instruction strikes a perfect balance between personalized attention and the benefits of making music with others. You or your kids will discover their unique singing voice and how it contributes to the group’s overall sound.
It’s never too late to find your voice
Leading by example is one of the most powerful gifts you can give your children and yourself. When they see you take time for yourself, embrace vulnerability, and develop a new skill, it has a lasting impact. It’s not only rewarding—it’s fun!
Lessons aren’t just for kids! I offer personalized day sessions for adults, where we focus on your goals, celebrate your unique voice, and develop your musicality. In a supportive, one-on-one space, I’ll meet you where you are, and help take your artistry to the next level.
Making music together
In one-on-one lessons, we focus entirely on your unique voice and goals.
For kids, this means building foundational skills like pitch, breath control, and confidence in a fun, engaging and child-centered way.
For adults, lessons can focus on expanding range, improving technique, or preparing for performances. My aim is to create a safe, encouraging space where every singer can explore their full potential and fall in love with their voice.
Group singing brings out the magic of collaboration.
In small groups, singers benefit from focused instruction while enjoying the support and connection of a close-knit team. These sessions are perfect for friends, families, or kids who love learning alongside others.
For those who thrive in larger ensembles, choral group lessons offer the chance to create beautiful harmonies as part of a collective. We work on teamwork, rhythm, and blend, helping every participant feel like an integral part of something bigger.
In a fun, supportive group of 3 to 6 students, kids will learn the fundamentals of string playing while building confidence and teamwork.
This program combines the benefits of group learning with personalized attention, ensuring each child receives both social engagement and individual support.
Based on the Suzuki method, students will practice together, develop essential skills, and receive tailored guidance to help them progress.
